Meet Williemac, Lake Side Restaurant

Updated: Sep 10

1. What inspired you to open a restaurant?

My family and I have been in the restaurant business since 1996. In December of 2018, we were privileged to take the reins from the previous restaurant owners at Soap Creek Marina and knew it would be a fantastic opportunity to create a lasting lake experience, offering great food and customer service at the same awesome location.

2. Why did you name your restaurant Williemac?

The restaurant is named after my father, Willie Mac, who is my hero.

3. How would you describe your restaurant?

We are a specialty steak and seafood restaurant, we serve fresh oysters, shrimp, crabs, catfish; all depending on seasonal availability. We serve the most delicious cocktails and ice-cold beers. Our restaurant seats 100 guests indoors and 125 guests outdoors. We have a full bar and on the nights that we are open, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we have a live band playing and a small dance floor for the adventurous and romantics. We are a lakeside restaurant and we offer a courtesy dock for our boating guests.

4. Tell us a bit about your employees

Our employees are personable, friendly, and dedicated. We currently employ 32 locals ranging in age from high school students to retirees. We are very blessed to have all of them on board and we make a great team.

5. Has your business received any notable awards?

We came in the top 100 C.S.R.A. restaurants for one of the dishes that we serve, a shrimp crepe. The crepes are cooked in a homemade Alfredo sauce that is unbelievably good to the taste buds.

6. Briefly describe your customers and community.

We have some of the best customers, who have come from as far out as Aiken SC. Our community has welcomed us with open arms as many are returning, and loyal customers and we have received great reviews.

7. What is your vision for the future?

In the fall, I envision us expanding the current deck area as well as putting a roof over the existing deck with heaters and ceiling fans. This will make the deck usable in the winters.

8. What are some interesting up and coming events that you have planned?

We are planning an awesome New Year’s Eve 2020 party, with a full band and dancing. Bookings will open in November 2021 and we hope that you will all come out and celebrate the coming in of a prosperous new year with us.

9. What makes you believe that Georgia’s Freshwater Coast is the best place to Live, Work, and Play in Georgia?

We have all you can ask for. Water, great people, and a great community.
